Welcome to the Satellite High School Instrumental Music Program Students interested in a comprehensive music education curriculum can find a rich high school experience in a fine arts enhanced program at Satellite High School in the Academy of Fine Arts.
As an open campus that accepts students from across the county, students interested in a diverse music program can choose to attend Satellite High School and be a part of numerous bands, orchestras and ensembles. Students can attend Satellite as a regular academic student or apply to be a Academy of Fine Arts student and graduate with a high school Diploma of Distinction in the Fine Arts. The Academy offers Fine Arts Academy tracks in Instrumental Music (band or orchestra), Chorus, Theatre, Visual Arts, Communication Technology, Drafting & Design and Fashion.
A Dynamic Music Experience Satellite students have access to the most diverse music education course selection - engaging them in the highest quality music experience on the Space Coast. Students can also take more music classes than in any standard high school in the county because Satellite places a scheduling priority on Academy of Fine Arts classes. Band students also enjoy the fun and competition of being in the county's superior-rated marching band during the first semester of the year.
Satellite High School is a State of Florida Music Demonstration School. This designation is unique to Satellite - we are the ONLY high school in Florida with this designation. This is a honor for our program as it represents a school whose music program is comprehensive in scope and outstanding in quality, promoting academic and aesthetic student achievement in music and other areas of the curriculum.
Mark Nelson, Director Leadership Makes a Difference. Satellite is fortunate to be under the tutelage of Mr. Mark Nelson -- an internationally recognized, National Board Certified conductor and teacher.
